Snorkeler’s Dream Charter - Snorkeling in the BVI

For our Snorkeler’s Dream Day Charter we have picked some of our favorite snorkeling Spots in the BVI. The day consists of visiting four great snorkeling sites intersected with a lovely lunch to give you a little bit of rest and relaxation in-between. A summary of our day itinerary is as follows and it should be noted that sometimes the weather can be too rough, so our Captain will modify the stops, depending on where is best for visibility.

Snorkeling Diamond Reef or Monkey Point.

We start the day charter by visiting Diamond Reef, located off Great Camanoe Island or Monkey Point, close to Guana Island. These are popular snorkeling spots known for their stunning corals and abundant marine life. The areas feature a variety of hard and soft corals, including brain coral, fan coral, and pillar coral, creating a vibrant underwater landscape. Snorkelers can expect to encounter a diverse array of fish, such as angelfish, parrotfish, and butterflyfish, as well as the occasional sea turtle or stingray gliding through the water.

Snorkeling Cistern Point or Fallen Jerusalem.

The next stop on our snorkeling charter will be Cistern Point, close to Cooper Island or Fallen Jerusalem which is close to The Baths. Again, these are a fantastic snorkeling spots for those seeking an exciting underwater adventure. Discover shallow coral formations and rocky outcrops, which provide excellent hiding spots for marine life. Snorkelers can explore the numerous small caves and crevices, where they may find lobsters, eels, and schools of colorful fish. The area around Cistern Point is also known for its sea turtle sightings, making it a must-visit location for turtle enthusiasts.

Lunch at the Cooper Island Beach Club or Pirates Bight, Norman Island

At this point we break for lunch at the Cooper Island Beach Club. This is an Eco resort on the shore of Manchioneel Bay, Cooper Island. What makes it special is that its off-grid and has managed to become self-sufficient in both power generation and water. It makes for a lovely stop-off point in the middle of your snorkeling trip. If you prefer, we can instead head over to Pirates Bight, Norman Island which also offers some great lunch options while overlooking the fantastic ocean.

Snorkeling Little Harbour Peter Island

After lunch we continue our snorkeling adventure at Little Harbour on Peter Island. This is a sheltered bay with calm waters, making it an ideal snorkeling spot for beginners and families. The sandy seabed gradually slopes down to a fringing coral reef, where snorkelers can observe various coral species and a multitude of tropical fish. The area is also known for its resident green sea turtles, which can be spotted grazing on the seagrass beds near the shore. Schools of blue tangs, sergeant majors, and yellowtail snappers are common sights in Little Harbour.

Snorkeling The Indians or The Caves, Norman Island

Our final stop on our snorkeling trip will be The Indians, or The Caves, located off the coast of Norman Island. This is a group of four small rock formations rising from the sea. The area is well-known for its excellent snorkeling opportunities, crystal-clear waters, and abundant marine life. Snorkelers can explore the coral gardens surrounding the rocks, where they may encounter trumpetfish, barracudas, and even reef sharks. The Indians are also home to various colorful sponges and sea fans, making it a visually stunning location for underwater photography.

Snorkeling The Caves Norman Island

Alternatively, another option is to visit Norman Island's The Caves. This is a unique snorkeling spot that combines underwater exploration with a sense of adventure. The caves are a series of interconnected chambers and tunnels that snorkelers can access. The area is home to a wide variety of marine life, including lobsters, crabs, and schools of small fish.
